Specific conditions:

• Junior mouthguards are recommended for kids aged 8 to 10, and are 3mm single layer. Junior mouthguards are $149.
• Standard mouthguards are recommended for those aged 11 or 12+, and are 5mm dual layer. Standard mouthguards are $179.
• Elite mouthguards are available for professional athletes and boxers, and are 6mm with a 3mm insert. Professional mouthguards are $199.
• Health fund rebates available, which may cover part or all of the cost, depending on the patient's level of cover.
• The dentist will assess the quality of mouthguard needed for the age of the patient and the type of sport being played.
